1 out of 5 stars Not for Windows XP x64   July 24, 2010
William Roberts (New York)
Be warned that although the specifications on this site say that this keyboard works with Windows XP, it only works with the 32 bit version of that operating system. It does not work with Windows XP x64. Microsoft does not believe in supporting their own operating systems. I returned the useless thing.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Keyboard for the price   July 23, 2010
Richard Floyd
I bought this keyboard because my old one was wearing out and I was getting a new computer. I have never owned a "gaming" keyboard before, so I have nothing to compare it to. I rarely play video games, so it's gaming attributes never appealed to me. However, what did appeal to me was the multitude of macro keys and the removable number-pad.

I work as a Visual Effects Designer, so the idea of being able to use macro keys to replace the multitude of shortcuts I have to use is excellent. What was even better was that the number-pad could be on the left or right side or not even be attached at all. While I work, I use the number-pad constantly, so the ability to use the number-pad with my left hand on the left side of the keyboard (leaving my right hand free with the mouse) is excellent.

Another nice thing is that the keyboard is only 16.5 inches long without the number-pad. It fits into my backpack perfectly, so I can take it wherever I want.

However, this keyboard is not without it faults.

The most annoying aspect is the non-removable (obviously) wrist rest. My hands are rather large, so my wrists hang off the edge of the keyboard about 1 inch, which makes it very uncomfortable to type sometimes.

Another thing is that this keyboard has red LEDs. It isn't the end of the world, but all of my gear that has LEDs lights up blue. So this big red keyboard sits in the middle of a sea of blue.

My last issue with this keyboard is the software and lack of on-board memory. First, you can't save your profile to the keyboard, so when you move to a different computer, you can't take your settings and macros. Second, the software that runs this keyboard is pretty dull. It gets the job done, but I wish they had taken some more time with it and made it a little cleaner and look nicer like Razer did.

All in all, this keyboard is very nice and I would gladly recommend it to anyone who asks.

3 out of 5 stars Good until started to fail...   July 12, 2010
Ivan Ramirez (Mexico City)
Great keyboard while it lasted; started to fail about 7 months later; the attachment began to exhibit problems registering keys with repeated delays as if I held down pressed a button.

It was cheap (on sale) so I don't mind it. But you get what you pay for. Construction is sturdy and solid and keys feel good. Use the media buttons to control iTunes. but the media keys take a while (about half a second) to register.

Overall 3 Stars; Ill get a logitech next time.

4 out of 5 stars MS keyboards are good.   June 20, 2010
P. Kuti (KC, Mo. USA)
The backlight keyboard is nice to have when you're not a touch-typist, and you like to have the lights down when you play games. The key response is good and solid, and the AV controls work very well. I haven't played with the macro keys yet, so I can't review that. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I like to put the keyboard in my lap, and I am always worried that the keypad is going to break off. If I kept it on the desk, I wouldn't be worried about that.

This is a good keyboard for all uses, not just gaming.

4 out of 5 stars Cheapest price on the web   June 18, 2010
Texanman (Texas)
Best price I found for the keyboard, If your looking for a entry level gaming keyboard or a replacement/backup keyboard then this one is fine...It does suffer from one flaw... you cant press down more then 3 keys at one time... why does this matter, well you cant crouch + move forward + reload at the same time which is quite important in most shooters but if you can look past that then for the small price tag its worth it
