I purchased this box after installing my HDTV antenna but could only get one channel. I tried everything to gain more signal and channels but no luck......until a nice gentleman advised me to hook up my antenna to a digital tv. Low and behold I borrowed my friends tv and received 13 channels right away. This box is a piece of waste. Take my advice...forget the converter box and purchase a digital tv.

The converter works fine and I am happy to receive free (after purchase) television over the airwaves. Digital quality is fine. Worth the money.
My one regret is that I didn't know TiVo would double as a digital converter as well as a DVR. Had I known this, I would have not purchased the converter box.

I purchased this to see if I can get any tv channels on my tv, as I do not have cable. I could not believe how easy and fast it was to simply plug it in and turn it on and press the auto scan and it was done scanning just like that. It works perfectly.
I don't know why anyone would write a bad review for this.
I like SIMPLE and I like FAST.

We have purchased two of these converter boxes in the last year (within 6 months of each other) and the same thing has happened to both of them.
Though they get good reception and gave us all of the available channels possible, it one day started distorting the reception. Several of the channels would have no sound at all, others said it was receiving only the spanish audio reception, some had mixed up the sound to where you were hearing audio from a totally different channel, and while watching sports you could here all the sounds of the game except the commentators. Very strange in deed. When all this happened to the first box we thought it could have been the reception from the television stations, but after purchasing another Magnavox converter box, we realized it was the box and not the stations. Then the very same thing happened within 6 months of usage to the newer second box.
We a sorely disappointed in this product.
